These are starting ranges—not permanent rules. Artwork shape, garment cut, seams, pockets, zippers, and the look you want can all change the final size.

FAST DECISION
WHAT SIZE FOR AN ADULT SHIRT?
Start around 9"–11" wide for a standard adult front. Move toward 12" for a bolder look or larger garment. Move smaller when the artwork is tall, narrow, or intentionally minimal.

Keep it compact. Most logos land between 3" and 4" wide. Print one test before uniforms or team orders.
YOUTH + TODDLER
Do not shrink an adult layout blindly. Use the smaller chest panel and protect space around collars and sleeves.
HOODIES
Account for the front pocket, zipper, thick seams, and double-layer fabric. A test press is mandatory.
OVERSIZED PRINTS
Large graphics need more than width. Confirm the full height and make sure the design does not crash into the collar or hem.

Should the same design size go on every shirt?
No. A design that looks right on an adult XL can overpower a youth small. Build multiple transfer sizes when the garment range changes.
What is the best DTF transfer size for an adult front?
Use 9"–11" wide as a starting range for most adult front prints, then adjust for the artwork shape and the garment’s usable print area.
Can I put multiple transfer sizes on one gang sheet?
Yes. Duplicate your design, set each version to the needed dimensions, and arrange all versions together in the Gang Sheet Builder.
Do hoodies use the same sizing as T-shirts?
They can use similar widths, but pockets, zippers, seams, and thicker fabric change placement and pressing. Measure and test the exact hoodie first.
What file setup should I use?
